On April 28, 2000, Troop 168 went on a 50 mile bike ride as part of the Cycling Merit Badge. There were 30+ people riding bikes.

We woke up before the sun and packed our water and bikes and took off for Lake Overholser. We went over the rules and started on our journey to El Reno, the halfway point. On our way we saw some beautiful country side. At one of many rest stops, we saw a herd of cows. They looked at us like they thought we were crazy!!! When we were almost there, we had to climb a huge hill to get to our food on the other side. Thank goodness we had food to motivate us!!! We ate like we hadn't eaten for weeks.

After a big drink of water and some food, we were on our way back. It was a lot of work trying to get back over that hill. After a couple of miles, some of us started dropping out, one by one. We had almost made it, but couldn't find the strength to go on. Only 5-6 guys dropped out and the rest made it all the way back to the lake!

We all did our best and should be proud of ourselves for making it as far as we did, but for some of us there is another 50-miler in our future!
