From the Scoutmaster's perspective:

Can you say POLAR BEAR?!?! This campout was a carbon copy of our February 2000 campout at Lake McMurtry. VERY cold at night, but warmed up nicely during the day. We had a good turnout of both boys and adults.

I was excited to see the Duds with 4 Dud tents and a couple of personal tents. We had about 2/3 of our new boys. Most everyone has started calling them Newbies. Not really my favorite term, but as long as it is not meant in a derogatory manner, I guess it will be okay for now.

We were also able to get some rank advancement going on the campout. I did two Scoutmaster conferences and finished a couple of items I had left on another one. If there had been more time, I had another one or two to do. The new guys all completed most of their requirements for their Totin' Chip as well as completing about half of their requirements for Tenderfoot. As far as advancement goes, it was a successful campout. A couple of areas that need to be worked on:

Breaking down camp - again it took longer than it should from at least one of our experienced patrols. Fire building - this is an area we will work on at upcoming campouts!
