From the Scribe's perspective

On our March Troop Campout, Troop 168 visited GW Exotics Park, near Wynnewood, OK.  Of all the boys who went to GW, those who didn’t have their Polar Bear patch sure earned it.  Those who all ready had it,  got to enjoy earning it for a second or more times, whatever the case may be.    The cold atmosphere was unrecognizable during the day. There was nothing but warm air during daylight hours.  The weather wasn’t the only thing to occupy the Scouts.

Saturday morning all of us went down to a field and helped clean up a field, which was littered with sticks and cow bones.  Then, the same afternoon, the whole troop went on a guided tour of the exotic animals.  The park has all kinds of animals, everything from tigers to turkeys, from lizards to lemurs. It has everything.

One of the big and exciting events that weekend happened when a duck flew over the fence into a tiger’s cage.  Let’s just say the tiger got an early afternoon snack.  One thing you had to look out for was what the ranch hands like to call sprayings.  A tiger or lion would rise up, back up to the fence and unleash a nasty “perfume” of lion or tiger pee on anyone who happened to be directly behind the tiger or lion and within twenty feet.  For further details on this matter ask, Colton.  As you can tell, despite the cold weather and the “sprayings”, I’d say we all had fun at least for the most part.
